Sports teams, leagues, clubs, colleges and athletes own valuable trademarks, and fans love to wear them. Jersey Den deliberately does something different: every design we sell is a generic jersey with our own made-up slogans, stripes and numbers, and our personalisation fields are for your pet’s name, not for a team’s. This page explains how we keep it that way, what you may and may not type into a custom jersey, how to report a concern about trademarks, designs or other intellectual property, and how we protect our own work. Reports go to support@jerseyden.shop.
\n
\n
Intellectual property at a glance
\n
\n
Our designs are generic: no team, league, club, college, athlete or brand names, logos, crests or mascots.
\n
Not licensed merchandise: Jersey Den products are not official, licensed or endorsed by any sports organisation.
\n
Your personalisation: your pet’s name, a nickname or your own name, and a number from 0 to 99, never someone else’s trademark.
\n
Reports: email support@jerseyden.shop with the subject “IP report”; we acknowledge within 24 hours on business days.
\n
Copyright notices: follow our DMCA page.
\n
\n
\n
1. How we design jerseys without borrowing
\n
A jersey looks like a jersey because of a few shared, generic elements: a back number, a name bar across the shoulders, stripes on the sleeves or chest, contrast trims and bold block lettering. Nobody owns those ideas. What teams own are their names, nicknames, logos, crests, mascots, distinctive slogans and the specific combinations that identify them. Our designs use the generic elements and none of the identifying ones.
\n
\n
Slogans are our own pet jokes: GOOD BOY 01, COUCH MVP 00, ZOOMIES CLUB 99, TREAT SQUAD 23, NAP CHAMP 09, BOX SEAT 04.
\n
Colourways are named by colour, never by a city or team: Den Brown & Ball Yellow, Navy & White, Red & White, Forest & Cream, Sky & Navy, Royal & White, Grey & Orange, Pink & White, Black & Lime.
\n
Numbers are chosen for the joke or the pet, not to point at a famous player.
\n
Product names and descriptions never say a product is “official”, “licensed”, “authentic” or “inspired by” a team or league.
\n
\n
2. What you may type into a custom jersey
\n
Custom products have a Name field (up to 12 characters), a Number field (0 to 99) and, on the custom owner jersey, an optional sleeve text field (up to 10 characters). These fields are for personal text:
\n
\n
Personalisation: allowed and not allowed
\n
\n
\n
Allowed
\n
Not allowed
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Your pet’s name or nickname (“BISCUIT”, “LUNA”, “SIR WAGS”)
\n
Names or nicknames of real sports teams, clubs or colleges
\n
\n
\n
Your own name or a family word (“BISCUIT’S MOM”, “THE KIMS”)
\n
Names of real athletes, coaches or other public figures
\n
\n
\n
A number from 0 to 99 that means something to you
\n
League names, tournament names or event brands
\n
\n
\n
Simple words about your pet (“ROOKIE”, “GOOD GIRL”)
\n
Brand names, product names or characters owned by others
\n
\n
\n
A pet’s birth year shortened (“21”)
\n
Slogans that are trademarks of someone else
\n
\n
\n
\n
A number on its own is fine; combining a famous player’s name with their number is not. If you are not sure whether a word is allowed, email us before you order.
\n
2.1 What happens if an order contains a protected name
\n
Personalisation is checked before printing. If an order contains text that appears to be someone else’s trademark, we pause the order and email you to choose different text. If we cannot reach you, or you prefer not to change it, we cancel the order and refund it in full within 7 days, as described on our Cancel or Change an Order page. This is not a judgement about you; it is simply a line we do not cross.
\n
3. Our own intellectual property
\n
The Jersey Den name, the logo (a dog head wearing a numbered jersey), our jersey designs and slogans, product photographs, product descriptions and the text of this website belong to Jersey Den. You are welcome to share links to our pages and post photos of your own pet wearing your jersey. Please do not copy our designs, photos or text to sell products, or present them as your own.
\n
If you see our designs or photos used by another seller without permission, tell us at support@jerseyden.shop with a link. We appreciate it.
\n
4. How to report an intellectual property concern
\n
If you own a trademark, design or other right and believe something on jerseyden.shop infringes it, email support@jerseyden.shop with the subject “IP report” and include:
\n
\n
your name, organisation and contact details, and whether you are the rights owner or acting for them;
\n
a description of the right (for example, the registered trademark and where it is registered, or the design);
\n
the exact page URL and a description of the product or content you are concerned about;
\n
a short explanation of why you believe it infringes your right;
\n
a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act.
\n
\n
For copyright in photos, artwork or text, please use the more formal process on our DMCA page.
\n
5. What we do with a report
\n
\n
We acknowledge your email within 24 hours on business days.
\n
We review the product or content against the right you describe.
\n
If the concern is valid, we remove the product or content, or change it so it no longer uses the right, and tell you what we did.
\n
If we disagree, we explain why in writing and remain open to further information.
\n
\n
Because our products are printed to order, removing a design stops future production immediately. We do not hold stock that needs to be sold off.
\n
6. Why we do it this way
\n
Pet owners love team spirit, and we get it: the dog on the couch on game day is part of the family. But licensed merchandise belongs to the people who hold the licence, and we would rather build our own den than borrow someone else’s stadium. Generic designs also keep things simple for you: no surprise cancellations because a name could not be printed, no questions about authenticity, and designs that suit every household, whichever team you cheer for.
\n
7. Customer-supplied content
\n
The only content customers supply for our products is typed personalisation text. By entering it, you confirm that you have the right to use it and that it follows section 2. If a rights owner complains about personalisation that slipped through, we may stop the order or, if already shipped, work with you on a fair solution.
\n
8. Questions customers ask about names and numbers
\n
My dog is literally named after a team. Can I print it?
\n
It depends on the word. Many pet names happen to be ordinary words that a team also uses, such as a colour, an animal or a weather word, and an ordinary word on its own is usually fine. A name that only makes sense as the team’s name, or the team’s full name with its city, is not. Email us the exact text before ordering and we will give you a straight answer; if we cannot print it, a nickname often works just as well.
\n
Can I use my favourite player’s number?
\n
Yes, any number from 0 to 99 is fine on its own. Numbers are not owned by anyone. What we cannot do is combine that number with the player’s name.
\n
Can you match my team’s colours?
\n
We offer our own fixed colourways, named only by colour. If one of them happens to resemble the colours you cheer for, that is up to you; we do not market any colourway as belonging to a team, and we do not add logos, crests or city names to make it look official.
\n
Can I write “home” or “away” on a jersey?
\n
Yes. Generic sports words such as HOME, AWAY, ROOKIE, CAPTAIN, COACH, MVP or SUBSTITUTE are fine, as long as they are not part of someone else’s slogan.
\n
What about my own business name?
\n
If you own the business (for example your dog-walking or grooming business) and have the right to use its name, you may type it, within the 12-character limit. Please do not type the name of a business you do not own.
\n
Can I put a character from a film or cartoon on the jersey?
\n
No. Characters are owned by their creators. Our personalisation is text only, and character names fall under the “not allowed” column in section 2.
\n
9. For rights owners: how we prevent problems
\n
We know rights owners prefer prevention to takedowns. Our approach is built in at three points:
\n
\n
Design: every design is created from generic elements and our own slogans; designs are never named after teams, cities or leagues.
\n
Listings: product titles, descriptions, colourway names and search terms on our site never use team, league, club, college or athlete names.
\n
Personalisation: the product page tells customers that real team, league and player names are not accepted, and each order’s text is checked before printing.
\n
\n
If you see something that slipped past these steps, we want to hear about it.
\n
10. Photos and images on jerseyden.shop
\n
Product pictures on Jersey Den show our own products: the jersey alone on a plain white background for the main and colourway images, and our own lifestyle pictures of dogs, cats and owners in the jerseys. We do not use photos of real athletes, stadiums, team merchandise or league events, and we do not use other sellers’ photos. Example names you see on products, such as “BISCUIT 07” or “LUNA 00”, are made up to show how personalisation looks.
\n
You are welcome to photograph your own pet in your Jersey Den jersey and share it wherever you like. If you tag or mention us, thank you. Please do not edit our product photos to add team logos or names, and please do not use our product photos to sell other products.
\n
11. If we make a mistake
\n
We work hard to keep the store free of other people’s intellectual property, but nobody is perfect. If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly, tell the person who reported it, and, where a customer’s order is affected, offer that customer a choice of a replacement in a different design or a full refund.
\n
12. Related policies
\n
See also our Terms of Service (the section on personalisation), our DMCA page for copyright notices, and our Privacy Policy for how we handle the text you type.
\n
13. Contact
\n
Jersey Den, 1305 Wall St, South Bend, IN 46615, US. Email support@jerseyden.shop (subject “IP report”).
